League Details

What:
Hockey Playoff competition where you assign points to each team in the playoffs and every time they win you earn the points you assigned them.
Objective:
The winner will have the most total points at the end of the playoffs
How:
Assign 16 points to whom you believe will win Lord Stanly’s Cup.  Assign 1 point to whom you believe doesn’t have a chance of winning a game in the playoffs.  Now rank the other 14 teams between these two teams
For example:  You give 16 points to the Red Wings as you believe they will win the Stanley cup.  You give 1 point to the Leafs because they don’t have a chance and won’t win a single game.  You give 15 points to Edmonton because you believe they will make it to the Finals but will lose horribly to the Wings. etc.
Prizes:
    • Overall winner will receive 1/2  of the purse
    • Second place overall will win 1/4th of the purse
    • Third place overall will win 1/8th of the purse
    • Fourth place overall will win 1/16th of the purse
    • Fifth place overall will win ……. etc.
    • First place, in each conference, at the end of round 1,2 and 3 will get their donation back for each time it occurs.
    • Last place at the end of round 4 will get their donation back (least we can do for that humiliation)
    • Best rookie result will get double their donation back
    • Most improved will be rewarded with their donation back
Adjustments:
  • Avatars can participate in the same conference, just e-mail me that request
  • Conferences will be balanced in numbers and Teams will be relegated based on last years results in the following order… Telfer to Borg to Slote, or promoted in reverse. If you have previously requested to participate in a conference, you will remain in that conference thus exclude from relegation or promotion.  You can change your mind, let me know.
  • Rookies, can request a conference, just e-mail me. If none requested that will be placed into the Slote conference
Correcting mistakes:

Submission errors happen.  I will be happy to correct them if I am notified in a TIMELY manner.  Please review your results after the first game for each team to make sure you are earning the points you believe you submitted or that you have correctly understood how this game is played.  If you notify me BEFORE the team plays a second game, I will make the requested corrections.

Reverse Order:

Sometimes people reverse the instructions and give 1 point to the Stanley Cup Champion and 16 to the team that won’t win a game.  In the past I have had people do this as a contrarian play, and win!  So I will not correct this mistake unless you recognize it before the second game in any series.
